Question 4

Above is a visual representation of the type or character we believe would be interested in watching our film 'MANIA'. We have portrayed our character to be a 17-25 year old male or female. With an intellectual mindset, we believe that our target audience will be able to involve themselves into the mature themes of our film regarding the mental illness of our patient and the mental challenges she face everyday. In the Prezi Presentation, i created a desk that shows some traits of our target audience which gives an incite into the typical persons persona.
The Apple Imac computer gives the impression that our audience member is in a comfortable monetary situation as the Apple computers are relatively expensive therefore it creates the impression that this person has been brought up in a family who are comfortable regarding money and therefore received a good education - a good education means that the person is intelligent and intellectual and therefore will understand the contents of our film and will be able to engage in it.
The post it note on the computer represents the age of our ideal audience. The note mentions booking a driving test, and to be able to drive you have to be at least 17 therefore it relates the our appropriate age group, the targeted age of the audience is also shown in the  . Although MANIA is going to be certificated a 15, we still believe that 17 year old people are more likely to view our film than 15 year old people are. Some teenagers do experience first hand mental health issues as well as witnessing other's go through mental health problems and therefore would be engage in the film.
Also on the desk with portrays aspects of our character is a rubix cube which shows intellectual ability as it is very difficult as you have to be patient to play the game. Showing intelligence in another way are the books on the table.
The mobile phone represents the generation we are living is as all young people 17-25 are on there phone a lot therefore for an area that an audience member would be working in to not have their phone there would be odd.
The empty crisps and empty mug show how the majority of teenagers are untidy.

Above is the evaluation for my Prelim task and then below is the evaluation for my film opening.

Over the course of the Preliminary task and our film opening I feel that not only have I learnt a great deal on how the creation of a film comes to be , but also I have learnt a great deal about my self and for that I see the Mania creation period as invaluable in terms of my personal development for my remaining years.

Prelim Storyboard
In my prelim task , I learnt how to storyboard at a very basic level. Maybe at the time I did not realise the importance of creating a storyboard as the vivid imagery we have in our head of the ideas we want to portray , but sometimes it can be difficult to articulate this to your colleagues so to have your ideas put visually on to paper helps your group understand where you are coming from. Storyboards are also fundamental in allowing your team to work efficiently on location without having to think back to what shot they previously planned. A storyboard clearly lists what happens in the shot , what type of shot it is and how long the shot is.
Film Opening Storyboard
For the final film, I learnt that the storyboard has to be done meticulously in order to achieve the upmost success for your final . No longer was a scribbled illustration and basic camera terms acceptable as it would still be unclear to the director what pathway they would want to go down on location. I learnt that maybe making your storyboard more of a presentation with more creative , inventive ways aids in your team mates around you maybe seeing your ideas as being innovative.
Prelim and Film Opening Shot list and Shortboard
Like the difference between the storyboards created in the prelim and film opening the creation of shoot lists / board's only enhances your knowledge of how to present the information with more precision and on a grander scale . A shoot board ables you to know exactly what you are shooting and when , a tool which is really helpful in achieving a high level of organisation paramount in creating a successful piece of work.
Scripts
Through the process we have learnt the importance of script writing we didn't want any of the dialogue in the opening to sound unnatural in our actors voice so it is important that the actor/actress learns their lines so that when it comes to the takes it is second nature and provides realism to the piece.
Production
In terms of production we have learnt a lot from the media rookies we once were to now  being able to hold our own in a productive environment. It helped that we were able to use the same camera that we used in the Preliminary so we were familiar with the functions of the camera so no fundamental filming time was wasted due to uncertainty over the equipment. We also learnt the basic filming rules required in order to create a successful film e.g. 180 degree rule. The main learning curb was probably time management of production in order to maximise our films potential we've learnt to communicate effectively in order for our brain child to flourish.
Post Production
This is where the biggest technical development was made from all of us . As a group we would all admit that our knowledge of editorial skills were very basic and was a massive fear going in to it that we wouldn't give our film justice by our poor editing skills . But I can say that each member of the group is now a confident editor and has come on leaps and bounds in their development , and for that I believe is the biggest achievement of the Mania project , that has only come from extra man hours spent at the computer playing around with the software which also shows the dedication of our team .  If we were to watch over our prelims and then our film openings the improvement would be gargantuan. In the prelim it was very much a basic cutting job with basic transitions but the final film has a lot of sound and colour effects in order to achieve an equilibrium.

I'm going to admit it hasn't been an easy journey for the Mania group as a whole but it can only provide you with the tools to improve and searching for a learning curb is much beneficial than a easy  route ,  I'll have no regrets when looking back on my Mania experience
